Chukar

Alectoris chukar

This member of the ptarmigan family was introduced as a game bird from Europe. Its distinctive black and white banding on itds sides, as well as the blue-grey and rosy tones of the breast and shoulder, are common to both male and female. The chukar is well-naturalized in the southern Montane Cordillera, and is sometimes introduced elsewhere from game farms.
