Greater Scaup

Aythya marila

The male greater scaup sports a glossy green head and black breast, while the rest of its body is white and gray; the female has a dark head as well, but displays a white facial patch at the base of the bill and a mottled brown body. Much of the greater scaup's range is in Canada, including breeding grounds in the southern Arctic and wintering grounds on both the east and west coasts.
