Bufflehead

Bucephala albeola

The disproportionately large, puffy head of this duck sets is apart. The male has a white patch of the head, a black face, white underparts and multicoloured neck and back. The female is a dull brown colour with a smaller white facial patch. Buffleheads are a fairly common sight throughout much of southern and northwestern Canada.
