Broad-winged Hawk

This high-soaring hawk can be found in much of southern Canada, and a rare, dark-coloured variety also breeds in western Canada. Broad-winged hawks perch on low branches to watch for their prey, which are usually unlucky rodents, snakes, frogs and insects.
