Pine Siskin

Carduelis pinus

This bird has an erratic range, appearing in many regions east of the Montane Cordillera throughout the summer and moving southward in flocks during winter, where it does not necessarily return to the same wintering grounds as the previous year. Pine siskin will sometimes flock with goldfinches, but can be distinguished by their streaked yellow wings and tail base, brown backs, and narrow beaks.
