Sand Verbena

Abronia micrantha

The sand verbena is an annual plant found in southeastern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan. It inhabits dry areas with unstable sand dunes. When measures are taken to stabilize these dunes, the effects are detrimental to the species. Sand verbena is not specifically protected in Canada.
