False Hop Sedge

Carex lupuliformis

The false hop sedge is one of the rarest sedges in Canada, occuring at five sites in southern Ontario and three in southern Quebec. It inhabits open areas with ample sunlight, such as forest edges or clearings. The species doesn't do well without lots of sun, such as under a thick canopy.
