White-Beaked Dolphin

Lagenorhynchus albirostris

This stout, small (about 230cm) dolphin is found offshore near Newfoundland and Labrador, and its range stretches north to Baffin Island. In Canadian waters it is most often observed in groups of six to eight, although gams of up to 1500 have been observed. The white-beaked dolphin is darkly-coloured over most of its body, with white shading on its snout and forward underparts.
