Another of the mouse-eared bats, Keen's bat is a nocturnal hunter. It is slightly larger than its kin, and is common throughout the central and eastern regions of North America. In Canada, it is found in British Columbia, as well as Saskatchewan and as far east as Newfoundland. This bat has a preference for forested areas and is often seen zigzagging though the sky over a river or lake. Keen's bat feeds mainly on invertebrates such as insects. Field tagging studies have shown that this species can live up to 18 years of age.
